“For skiers, snowboarders, ice climbers and everyone else who lives a life dedicated to frozen water, the freeze-thaw cycle leading to a spring runoff can be a somber time. Upon further inspection, one can find challenge and beauty in this time. When Winter Ends tells the story of a skier who chases the challenge of skiing big mountains deep into the summer months and then finally trades the skis for a fly rod, pursuing another passion and paying respect to the natural cycle we all strive to be in tune with.”

Featured Film: Tenkara ManCard
Tenkara ManCard is a cinematically-reflexive action; it’s the kind of creative endeavor that happens when one thinks they’re walking into their local fly shop to spotlight retrograde innovation—and discovers that their entire bedrock of masculinity is now instantly up for public speculation. Filmed on the McCloud River, this short-yet-complete story arc is meant to at least prime the pumps for future minimalists to enjoy proximity fly fishing, as well as demonstrate what is perhaps the perfect intermediate entry platform for children. Though this film did not make the tour for 2014, the presentational bent acts as if it did. This simply underscores the chronic, narcissistic assumptions of the filmmaker.
Ron Giesecke is a writer, musician, close-up magician, family man and all-around renaissance schmuck from Redding, ca. When not flogging-away his day in the juvenile corrections system, he spends his time with family, church, and building cigar-box guitars. Oh, and he also fly-fishes.
